Kurtzberg Antiques is named after Jack Kirby, one of the creators of Captain America. Alpha One is Steve Rogers [Captain America]. The shadowy figure is the Shadow [Lamont Cranston]. One man at the wharf looks like Nick Fury (the man with the eye patch); another man at the wharf looks like Dum-Dum Dugan, Fury's right-hand man. Illustrated with the page-tall figure of The Baroness from page 13 of #1, a slightly cropped version of this issue's page 3, panel 3 (a head shot of The Master), and a cropped version of the single panel last page of #1 with the Hornet and Kato.
